GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR BOTH ND & HND

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
The minimum entry requirement into National Diploma Programmes in any of the following:
1. SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent with credit level passes in five subjects relevant to the programme at not more than two sittings”
2. Five credit level passes in relevant subjects obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized preliminary ND course offered in a Polytechnic or Similar Post-Secondary Technical Institution.
3. The National Technical Certificates (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC) or National Vocational Certificate (NVC) final with Credit level passes in five subjects relevant to the programme.
4. In addition to 1 – 3 above, candidates must obtain a satisfactory score in the UTME Examination which is conducted annually.
5. A holder of the Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC) may be given advanced placement in the ND Programme provided the candidate has also met the minimum entry requirements into the ND Programme and obtained minimum of credit level grades in the ANTC Examinations.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR HND PROGRAMMES
Applicants who possess the following qualifications may be considered for direct admission into Higher National Diploma Programmes:
1. The National Diploma (ND) or National Innovation Diploma (NID) with a minimum of lower credit pass in the discipline obtained from an NBTE accredited programme plus a minimum of one-year Post-ND or Post-NID cognate work experience in the field of specialization.
2. Candidates with ND or NID at pass level and a minimum of two-year post-ND or Post-NID work experience may also be considered.

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) PROGRAMME IN ACCOUNTANCY
The general entry requirements for the HND Accountancy programme shall be:
(a) all the requirements for admission into the ND Accountancy/Financial Studies
programme, plus
(b) a minimum of lower credit pass (GPA 2.50 and above) in the ND Accountancy/Financial
Studies and
(c) a minimum of one year Post ND cognate work experience.
Note: In few exceptional cases ND graduates with a pass (CGPA of 2.00-2.49) in the ND that have worked for two or more years in the field may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT.
The general entry requirements for the HND in Business Administration and Management are:
(a) all the requirements for admission into the ND programme in Business Studies,
(b) a minimum of lower credit pass* (CGPA) of 2.50) in ND Business Studies or related
programme, and
(c) A minimum of one year post – ND cognate work experience.
Note: In exceptional cases, ND diplomates with a pass grade (CGPA of 2.00 – 2.49) in the
cognate ND examination, with two or more years of work experience in the specific field,
may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
The minimum entry requirement into the Higher National Diploma in Computer Science is as follows:
a) The National Diploma in Computer Science obtained from an accredited programme, with
at least the lower credit pass or
b) The Nigerian certificate in Education with major in Computer Education, at not more than
the merit level pass.
c) CPE I of CPN with at least the lower Credit.
In addition to (a), (b) and (c) above the candidate must have acquired not less than one year post
ND/NCE/PCE I cognate work experience.
In exceptional cases, ND diplomats with a pass (CGPA of 2.0-2.49) in the ND examination with two or more years of cognate experience in the specific field may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

Academic Informations

ACADEMIC SESSION

An academic session consists of two semester (First and Second Semesters) and each semester shall have a maximum of seventeen (17) weeks, consisting not less than fifteen weeks of teaching, including practicals, tests, and quizzes. The remaining 2 weeks shall be used for registration and examinations.

COURSES

Each programme has prescribed courses made up of general studies, basic courses and professional courses essential to the practice of the profession to which the programme is targeted, and which students must take and pass for the award of the diploma. Continue reading “Academic Informations”
